Reset (Keep User Profiles) — HP Laptop
Use Reset (Keep my files) to keep user profiles/documents while resetting your device.
Before You Start
- Back up important data (factory reset erases all).
- Power: Plug in the AC adapter.
- BitLocker: Have the recovery key ready (you may be prompted).

Work devices: After reset, you may need to re-sign in/enroll to your organization again.
Reset and Keep User Profiles (keeps user folders, removes apps/settings)
From Windows (if it boots)
- Open Start and type reset, then select Reset this PC.
- Click Get started.
- Choose Keep my files.
- Pick Cloud download or Local reinstall (either works; Cloud downloads fresh files).
- Review what will be removed → click Reset and follow prompts.

From F11 Recovery (if Windows won’t load)
- Shut down the laptop.
- Power on and tap F11 repeatedly until Recovery appears.
- Select Troubleshoot → Reset this PC.
- Choose Keep my files.
- Select Cloud download or Local reinstall → follow prompts.

Important:
If you are prompted to enter a recovery key, please stop and contact Student Technology Services (STS). This means the device is protected with BitLocker, and STS will need to assist you with the reset.
