Getting your Chromebook ready for the first time is simple if you take it step by step. This guide will walk you through the entire process — no tech background needed!
Step 1: Unbox Your Chromebook
Carefully open the box and remove the Chromebook, charger, and any papers or instructions inside.

Tip: Save the box and packaging. If you ever need to return the Chromebook or send it in for repairs, the original box will be very helpful.
Step 2: Plug It In
Even if the battery looks full, plug your Chromebook into a power outlet using the charger. This makes sure you won’t run out of battery while setting up.

Step 3: Turn On Your Chromebook
Open the Chromebook.
The screen should light up automatically. If not, press the power button (⏻) (usually on the side or top right corner).

Step 4: Welcome To Your Chromebook
A setup screen will appear.
If the language shown is not correct, choose the one you prefer from the list. (as shown in the image below in step 5)
Look for the brown button that says “Get Started.”
Click it to continue.

Step 5: Connect to Network
Ensure your Campus hotspot is turned on
SSID (Network Name): My Campus Hotspot
Password: Campus123!
On the left: Select My Campus Hotspot.
On the right: Enter the password, then click Next

Tip: You must be connected to the internet to continue setup. If your hotspot doesn’t appear, make sure it's powered on and visible.
Step 6: Sign In With Your Student Email
Enter your school email address you received in your "Welcome To Campus" email.
Type the password you created for your account.
Click Next to log in.
Step 7: Accept the Account Setup
You will see “Welcome to your new account.”
Read the information.
Click “I understand.”

The next page is “Control your data.”
Read the short information.
Click “Accept and continue.”

Step 8: Create a PIN (Optional)
You may be asked to set up a 6-digit PIN.
This PIN makes it quicker to log in without typing your full password every time.
If you don’t want to set one up now, click “Skip.”

Tip: You can always add a PIN later by going into Settings.
Step 9: Explore the Desktop
Once setup is finished, you’ll see the Chromebook desktop screen.
Along the bottom taskbar, you’ll notice:
Google Chrome (web browser)
Gmail
Google Calendar
Files
Google Play Store
YouTube
Step 10: You’re Ready!
That’s it — your Chromebook is set up and ready to use. From here, you can:
Open Chrome to browse the internet.
Check Gmail for school emails.
Use Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for assignments.
