⚠ If you see a red "There was an unexpected internal error. Please try again." message on Campus when signing into a Google app, your Okta Verify account needs to be re-linked between your phone and your Mac.
This error typically occurs when the Okta Verify app on your Mac is not paired with the account on your mobile device. Follow the three steps below to re-establish the connection. You will need both your mobile phone and your Mac nearby.
Step 1: Generate a pairing code on your phone
Do this first — keep the code visible on your phone throughout Step 2
Open the Okta Verify app on your mobile phone.
Tap the account you want to add to your Mac.
On the Account Details page, tap Add account to another device.
Follow the prompts until a QR code and an 8-digit pairing code appear on your screen. Keep this page open.
!Tip: Make sure your phone screen stays on and doesn't lock while you complete Step 2.
Step 2: Connect the Mac app
Enter the 8-digit code from your phone into the Mac app
Open the Okta Verify app on your Mac.
Click Get Started— or Add Account if the app is already set up.
Select Add account from another device.
When prompted for Bluetooth permissions, click Allow or OK.
Enter the 8-digit code displayed on your mobile phone into the Mac app.
Step 3: Confirm the pairing
A 6-digit PIN confirms both devices are linked
A 6-digit PIN will appear on your Mac screen.
Enter this PIN into the Okta Verify app on your phone to verify the pairing.
Your Mac will confirm the account has been added successfully.
If prompted, click Enable Touch ID to allow faster logins using Okta FastPass (recommended).
